Installation Instructions

You may want to print this page, then follow the steps outlined to download and install the ACtoCDF program.

Download the Program: 

First, create a new folder on your PC where you will save the ACtoCDF download file (ACtoCDFPkg.exe) and the extracted files that you will use to install the ACtoCDF application.  I suggest you put these in a new folder on the C drive named ACtoCDF. In other words, create the folder C:/ACtoCDF.

Click on the Download link on this page or any page of the ACtoCDF web site. There you see links to download the program and optionally, purchase a license. If you elect to purchase the license, fill in your email address, and click the pay now button. Follow the PayPal instructions to make your payment, then return to the download web page. Near the bottom you will see the link 'Click Here to Download ACtoCDF'. Click on that link. You should get a new little window that asks if you want to Open or Save the file ACtoCDFPkg.exe. Click the Save option. Save the file in the new folder you created for that purpose (C:/ACtoCDF).

Note: ACtoCDF download file is a self extracting WinZip file.  Your web service and firewalls must allow the downloading of a type .exe (executable file).

Extract the files:

After you save the file, go to the folder in which you saved the file and double click the file ACtoCDFPkg.exe. The files you need to install ACtoCDF will be extracted by default to the C:/ACtoCDF folder. If you change the location be sure you make a note where you extract the files. Three files will be extracted.

Note: You may get a message indicating that the publisher could not be verified. This is because I have not taken the necessary steps to become a verified publisher.  You can ignore that message and run the extraction program.

Install the ACtoCDF application:

Next go to the folder where the files were extracted and double click on the file setup.exe.

Follow the install instructions. Typically you should install the program at the default location C:/Program Files/ACtoCDF.  The instructions for using ACtoCDF assume this is the location in which you install the program.

Run ACtoCDF and read the help section:

After the program is installed you need to run it (double click the icon on your desktop or or double click the file ACtoCDF.exe). You will be prompted to enter the serial number. If you purchased a license, enter the serial number you received in the e-mail you received when you purchased the license - or if you are testing ACtoCDF in the demonstration mode, enter '0'. Enter the serial number, click OK, then click "help" (upper left corner of the program window) then click on "Contents".

READ THE COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS before you start to convert your AOL Contacts.  Then return and proceed to do each step of the process exactly as detailed in the help section of the program.
